  The Appalachian Trail in Maryland

AT South

The A.T. Covers 41 Miles in Maryland

AT North
Lynn and I hiked the Maryland section of the trail in 1999. This was well before I had any intention of hiking the entire trail. Several years have gone by and as a result, there is very little I remember about it and I didn't take any pictures at the time.

Lynn and I hiked the trail here in very small sections, usually 3-4 miles one way. We returned each day the same way, so we really hiked across Maryland twice. For me, the highlights of the Maryland section were:

  • The bridge across the Potomac River
  • The view from Weverton Cliffs
  • Gathland State Park
  • The original Washington Monument
  • The bridge over I-70
  • High Rock
  • Penmar Park
  •
