Directions to Albany Mountain Trailheads

From Bethel, ME to northern trailhead

Follow Route 5 from center of town south passed Songo Pond. At approximately 4.7 miles (from town) turn right onto Patte Brook Road. Follow Patte Brook Road for 2.9 miles. Turn left onto Crocker Pond Road (unmarked) and follow 0.6 miles to the trailhead which will be on the right.

From Norway, ME to northern trailhead

From center of Norway follow Route 118 west for 12.8 miles. Route 118 will become Route 35. Follow this for one more mile. Turn right onto Route 5 north and follow for 8.1 miles. Turn left onto Patte Brook Road. Follow Patte Brook Road for 2.9 miles. Turn left onto Crocker Pond Road (unmarked) and follow 0.6 miles to the trailhead which will be on the right. Most of Patte Brook Road and all of Crocker Pond Road is dirt but it both are in excellent shape and suitable for all vehicles.

From Norway, ME to southern trailhead

From center of Norway follow Route 118 west for 12.8 miles. Route 118 will become Route 35. Follow this for one more mile. Stay straight as Route 35 will become Route 5. Follow this 4.4 miles which will bring you passed Keewaydin Lake. Turn right onto Birch Avenue. Follow for one mile where the pavement will end. There is parking on the right. According to the AMC White Mountain Guide this is where the trail official starts but if your vehicle has high clearance you may be able to drive an additional 0.9 miles to the White Mountain National Forest gate.

From Fryeburg, ME to southern trailhead

Get on Route 5 north from Route 302. Follow for 19.8 miles until you reach Birch Avenue. Turn left onto Birch Avenue. Follow for one mile where the pavement will end. There is parking on the right. According to the AMC White Mountain Guide this is where the trail official starts but if your vehicle has high clearance you may be able to drive an additional 0.9 miles to the White Mountain National Forest gate.
