February 20, 2011 Hike #2
After hiking Mount Jackson we regrouped in the Highland Center and visited with my wife, Lynn, who was just relaxing for the day. Jeremy headed off to a mountain in Vermont. Sabrina, Terra, Madison, and I hit the trail just before noon. The peaks were in the clear as we looked up to Avalon (left) and Tom (right).

The trail was well packed down so we held off on putting on our snowshoes until a mile or two into the hike. Sabrina had always hiked these peaks from the other side so this was a new trail for her.
Here's Sabrina just below the summit of Mount Avalon, a new alpine peak for her.

From the summit of Avalon, we looked across to Mount Washington. It looked inviting but very, very cold.

Sabrina, Madison, and Terra on Avalon.
With her cool suit on, I've been referring to Terra as the dog of the future.

After tagging Willey, winter #35 for Sabrina, we dropped down slightly to the viewpoint where we had a great view of Webster Cliffs and Mount Washington way in the back.

We backtracked and reclimbed Field (uggh!) before heading over to Mount Tom. After tagging Tom, winter #36 for Sabrina, we headed down. It is easy to see by the picture below which one of us was carrying the treats.

We finished about 5:15. Congratulations Sabrina (and Terra) on 3 new winter 4ks!
