My friend and co-worker Eric Fernald joined me for today's hike. It would be his first time on Mount Washington.
After leaving from Pinkham Notch, we passed Crystal Falls

We headed up the Boott Spur Trail, a new trail for me.

There were a couple lookouts or should I say "look-ups" along the way.

We decided to cut across on the Camel Trail to tag Mount Monroe.

We tagged Monroe, Eric F's first New Hampshire 4000 footer. We returned to the hut and headed up to the crowded summit of Mount Washington.

After an extended break we began heading down the Nelson Crag Trail.

Nearing Ball Crag which is just a bump.

We neared Nelson Crag . . .
. . . but turned down Huntington Ravine Trail.

We reached this cairn . . .

. . . and turned onto the Alpine Garden Trail, another new trail for me.

It was time to head down, we chose the Lion Head Trail.

We reached the bottom of the Lion Head Trail.

From there we took the Tuckerman Ravine Trail back to Pinkham Notch.
