June 20, 2010 Hike #2
After a long drive on a dirt road, Madison and I reached the trailhead.

The trail started off easy enough.

But it quickly started going up. I came to a split in the trail. The trail to the left just went a few feet to a stream. I continued on the other trail. Again the trail split. This time it led a few yards down to a cabin.

I'd say it has been a while since anyone stayed here.

The higher I went, the steeper the trail got.

I turned around for a nice view.

Just before the summit was a short trail leading to some ledges.

There was some type of small shack with a solar panel on it.

There was a grassy area on the top.

I saw three signs reading "Scenic Vista"

I decided to check out the one by the old tower first.

I would say this was the highest point. Here's Madison on the 3180' summit.

With 1,840 feet of prominence, this mountain makes the list for New England's 50 Finest. Although hazy, I could see over to Bald and Saddleback Wind which I hiked earlier.

I went to the next lookout for a great view. I merged 3 pictures together for this one.

I went to check out the last vista which faced north.

I would say the one with the firetower was the nicest, so I returned there for a break.

Judging by the small stumps in the area, this isn't quite a natural viewpoint, but that's ok, I'll take it.

Madison decided there was a rock that was just a little higher.

We returned over the same route. As I left the park I had a nice view of Webb Lake.
