June 12, 2010 Hike #3
After a quick hike to Mount Jasper followed by a hike to Mount Cabot, I had time for one more hike. I decided to do a section of the Cohos Trail. I parked at South Pond. There is a recreational area there and the cost is $5 but if you are hiking you are let in for free. I parked and walked through a picnic area.

The trail started off easy enough.

It even had a place to sit.

There were a couple of viewpoints for the pond.

A little after the pond I came to the junction for Devil's Hopyard. I would check that out later. I continued on to Rogers Ledge.

The trail got a 'tad' rough in places. I felt like I was on Devil's Hopyard already. Yuck!

I had been here once before from the other direction. It is such a nice spot. Here's a few photos.

I stayed about 15 minutes to enjoy the great spot but the bugs were getting a bit too tough so I headed back. I reached the junction for Devil's Hopyard. I dropped my pack and went to check it out. It started out easy enough. It felt like a trap.

This small bridge was the last user friendly thing about this trail.

It got ugly.

I then came out at a huge rock face.

By the time I returned to South Pond the weather started to improve.

I had a view of Rogers Ledge (center) from Route 110 on the way home.
