May 31, 2010 Hike #3
It was getting late in the day but I had just enough time for a small hike. I was thinking of climbing Mount Crag. A "whopping" 1.4 miles roundtrip. I decided on Middle Mountain instead. My AMC map wasn't showing a trail here, but I headed up Middle Mountain Trail.

Just after the junction with the trail that led up to Mount Crag, I came to the bridge-to-nowhere. I didn't see a trail on the other side and the trail I was on went straight.

I came to a tricky spot in the trail where Middle Mountain Trail took a left. It looked as though another unnamed trail might have continued. Further up I came to another split in the trail. This one was marked a little better. I took a right.

I reached the 2010' summit of Middle Mountain. This rock was just below the summit.

I explored the somewhat open summit getting views in most directions. The views were very limited because of smoke coming down out of Canada from a forest fire.
