Sometimes I just can't wait for the weekend to go hiking. Today after work, I headed up to Bald and Speckled Mountains with my friend, Doug. These little but rugged mountains are close to home, but it has been two years since I've hiked them. We hit the trail about 4:45. The first section of the trail brought us through 'mosquitoville' although the mosquitos seemed to find my blood more tasty than Doug's. Up we headed to the summit of Bald Mountain.

About a quarter of a mile from the summit we came out on some open ledges with excellent views.

A few more minutes and we were on the summit of Speckled which also offered great views.

We returned over the same route stopping again on the open ledges of Bald as dusk was approaching.

After a brief stop at Little Concord Pond, we returned through 'mosquitoville' finishing about 8:20.
