November 11, 2008 Hike #2
Because of hiking Mount Hale this morning, I didn't arrive at Crawford Depot until 10:15. Ed and company had planned to start at 8:00. I've got to set a serious pace to catch up with them. With a couple of inches of snow on the ground, I was able to see where they took their breaks. I went nonstop up to the Mount Tom spur. I dropped my pack and headed to the summit of Tom. This wasn't a new peak for either Madison or myself, but the next two peaks would be new for Maddie.
We continued on to Field (#24 for Madison) and then on to Willey. About halfway between Field and Willey, I caught the group. Well sort of. They were coming back from Willey, and I still needed to bag it. At least it gave me an idea how far ahead of me they were. Along with Ed there was Jeff Cutter, Mike Milos, and Steve Moore. These were new peaks for Mike. Congrats Mike! Madison and I continued on to Willey.

We retraced our steps back to Field before heading down the Avalon Trail. I caught up to the group at the spur trail for the summit of Avalon and hiked the rest of the way back with them.
