November 11, 2007 Hike #1

I'm expecting to have a great day! I've got clear blue skies and 2 mountains to climb with great views.

After signing the register, I began following the blue blazes.

I imagine there will be a lot more snow higher up.

I stayed on the Monroe Trail

Some sections were quite steep and icy, so at 3,000 feet I put on my Stabilicers.

I didn't see any hikers on the way, but I would see many on the way down.
The snow was well packed so a lot of hikers have been through here recently.

I took the Long Trail the remaining .3 miles to the summit.

The wind was fierce, so just before the 4083' summit, I bundled up. This was my 66th New England 4000 footer, just one to go. It's also #88 for my New England 100 highest list.

I had the summit to myself.

As you can see, there was no snow in the valley.

The mountain with the white tip in the distant is Mount Mansfield, my last unconquered New England 4000 footer.

Let's go get it!
