I usually don't try to rush through my hikes, but today was different. I've already done a smaller hike this morning, the weather isn't so great, and I'm looking forward to this evening. The next two nights I'll be staying with my sister, brother-in-law, and my nephew and nieces. I can't wait to see everyone, so I hope these 12 miles go by quick. It looks like I have easy terrain ahead, especially the first few miles. Lynn will be meeting me at several places today, so I'm not bringing my pack, just my camera.

Over a bridge . . .

I went by a monument for Shay's Rebellion.

Careful, the wet leaves are slippery!

The trail goes over the Housatonic River (again) by use of this auto bridge.

I had one mountain to climb this afternoon as I headed up East Mountain.
Not a bad view for a foggy, drizzling day.

The Tom Leonard Shelter was a little off the trail, but I checked it out anyway. There was lots of gear indicating that several hikers were spending the night, but I never saw anyone.

I passed another milestone today. I have less than 500 miles to go. I know that's still a long way, but considering the AT is about 2175 miles long, I'm definitely making progress. Now we're off to see my sister Margie.
