Most I've my time today will be spent driving back to Maine, but I've got an 8 mile hike to get in first.

I began my descent when I saw some large boulders to my right. I thought, "There has got to be a great view from there." I climbed to the top and got a spectacular view.

Looking down to Cheshire, my final destination of this 9 day hike.

I was glad I was able to end this hike on a high note with such a great view. I had passed a blue blazed trail earlier which apparently led here. Rather than climb down the boulders I took the short blue blazed trail back to the AT.
One more bridge to cross

This sign was for sobos, and I was a nobo today, so I got to see how far I had come.

Notice the green newspaper box in the picture below . . .
That is for the Berkshire Eagle which I delivered from age 12 to 15. I think I was one of the last paperboys since I believe the papers are now delivered by someone in a vehicle. I actually had two paper routes totaling 110 papers at one point. I had to have them all delivered by 7:00 am. Then I had to milk the cows and feed the chickens (just kidding). It's too bad paper routes don't exist for kids any more. It helped teach me discipline, responsibility, and the value of a dollar.

The AT crosses a very nice rails-to-trails route.

I met Lynn at the corner of Church Street and School Street. There is a monument for John Leland who was a strong supporter of Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.
He was also responsible for delivering to President Jefferson the Great Cheshire Cheese.
Well, that's it for this trip. Lynn, Madison, and I had a great time. Hope you enjoyed reading along.
