When we neared the summit the trail exits the woods and follows a grassy area.

Maddie and I made our descent toward Mad Tom Notch Road. I knew we were getting close when a section of the trail had gravel on it. You won't find a section of trail with gravel on it too far into the woods. Who would want to wheelbarrel it that far.

I entered the Peru Peak Wilderness Area

Up I climbed to the 3394' summit of Styles Peak. There was a nice breeze on the summit which provided a great view if standing. (If you sat down the trees were too high and you couldn't see much.)

I dropped into the col between Styles Peak and Peru Peak. I saw Thorny, a sobo who I met yesterday. I then walked across a series of bog bridging.

I reached the viewless summit of Peru Peak (3429') before descending 800 feet to Peru Peak Shelter.

I briefly talked with a couple AT thru hikers and then a couple Long Trail thru hikers. The LT hikers were leaving and going my way, so I hiked with them for the next two miles.

Looking across to Dorset Peak. One of my unconquered New England 100 highest. It's not on the Appalachian Trail, so I'll have to come back for it another time.

I was running a little late to meet Lynn, so I left my new friends Benzeno and Sleepy.

I bypassed the side trail to Lost Pond Shelter. Besides that, I had read a notice earlier that the shelter had burned down.
I met up with my sobo friend Quasi who I met yesterday.

Close behind was my other new sobo friend, Surge.

I'm not sure why this happened, but my camera then broke. No, taking a picture of Surge didn't break it. I guess it was just time. The mechanism that makes the power button push in and out broke. Maybe it is repairable. Fortunately, it was the end of the day and there wasn't much more to see other than the suspension bridge across Big Branch. I then went passed Big Branch shelter before meeting Lynn.
Lynn's Day
Lynn loves horses. On the way to the trailhead today, we went by a horse show. She stopped in for a couple hours and took a few pictures with our backup camera.
