This is just a short, unplanned, midweek hike. I had the 'need' to be on an open mountain top so Lynn, Madison, and I headed up to Whitecap Mountain near Rumford, ME. I've hiked this mountain before and wanted to share the open summit with Lynn. We arrived at the trailhead at 5:00 PM, a late start I know; but this would be a short hike. There isn't much to see on the steady climb up, but the large open summit is beautiful. We reached the top in a little over an hour and enjoyed a casual stroll around the summit.

On the way down we noticed this rock that had been split in two.

How did it get like that? I had given it one big karate chop.

Lynn and I made it down the mountain in a little less than an hour.
