After I go on one of my hiking vacations I'm always eager to hit some of the local trails. This vacation was no exception. The weather hasn't cooperated though. I came back just in time for a week of overcast, rainy weather. The weather report for Saturday was rain, but I caught a short break in the weather. Knowing that it wouldn't be a great day on the trail, I picked a short trail in the Whites that I assumed would have no views. The swelling in Madison's elbow has finally gone down so I brought her along.

This was as close as I got to a scenic view today.

The walk along Wheeler Brook was nice.
I crossed the brook so many times I thought I was back on the Capon Valley 50k course.

It's been almost a month since I was in the Whites. The scenery has changed from white to green, although I hear there is still plenty of snow at the higher elevations.

It was great to be back in the Whites, but I doubt that I will hike this trail again. It doesn't connect to any other trails, there are no views, and although it goes up and over a mountain, it doesn't traverse any named summits. Madison didn't care. She had a great time.

The trail briefly follows a fire road . . .
. . .before reaching the southern terminus of the trail at Little Lary Brook Road.

Madison and I returned over the same route.
