I'm on call this weekend, but with gorgeous blue skies and over a foot of fresh snow I've got to get out to play. I wish I had a good size mountain that was close to home, but I'm thankful I have Streaked and Singepole. They are only about 10 minutes away and offer great views. I just wish the trails were a little longer.

I brought my snowshoes today. I figured I would need them with all the fresh snow. Nope. When I got to the base of the mountain there were several vehicles there. Usually, I am alone on the mountain or maybe one or two other hikers. Looks like everyone wants to enjoy the fresh snow. With the trail already broken, I left my snowshoes in the truck and headed off with Madison. Boy, does she love the snow.

Here she is with a dusting of snow on her. She loves to play in it, and she loves to eat it. I've warned her several times to stay away from any snow that looks "lemon" flavored.

Today the sky was extra blue.

I heard an unusual sound, sort of swooshing. It was getting louder and closer, FAST. I couldn't imagine what it could be. Then out of the bushes this kid came flying through on a snowboard. That was unexpected. Then I came across three skiers who were climbing up the mountain. Madison made a lot of friends today.

On the summit I was met by several snowmobilers. The west side of the mountain that I came up is too steep for snowmobiles, but there is a snowmobile trail on the east side of the mountain.

Here's a couple views from the summit

We had a windy day after the storm which had blown several open, rocky areas clear. I found a dry rock to sit on, enjoyed the view for a few minutes, and headed down. I love snow, but I'm looking for signs of spring within the next couple of weeks.
